Located by the sea in the beautiful Scottish county of East Lothian, Curlew Cabin is a traditional wooden holiday chalet, lovingly renovated.
Sitting on the shoreline of Belhaven Bay, Curlew Cabin faces a dramatic sweep of tidal estuary with a beautiful long sandy beach. Enjoy spectacular coastal views, snug accommodation for up to four people and an amazing choice of things to see and do on the doorstep.
Belhaven Bay is one of the most beautiful ‘best kept secret’ beaches on Scotland’s East coast and a designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. The cabin is in a unique hamlet of restored, colourful timber holiday homes, ideally positioned on the edge of the bay to enjoy the magical location.
The constant ebb and flow of the tide forms an ever changing landscape over the sweeping tidal saltmarsh which provides an ideal habitat for a vast array of flora and fauna and is home to an impressive range of birdlife throughout the year.
The village of Belhaven, home to the famous Belhaven Brewery is on the outskirts of the historic town of Dunbar with it’s dramatic castle ruins, three working harbours and Napoleonic gun battery. You will also find an excellent sports centre with swimming pool and a great selection of shops, cafes and restaurants in the town.
Foxlake Adventures, East Links Family Park, Coast to Coast Surf School, Winterfield Golf Club and Seacliff Stables are all nearby.
Recently renovated and upgraded, this unique self catering cabin provides a charmingly furnished open plan living space with generously sized sofa, two easy chairs, a dining table and chairs for four, a cosy wood burning stove and double glazed windows showing panoramic views of the bay.
The kitchen provides all the essentials; a ceramic hob, integrated oven and grill, vented hood, fridge, kettle, toaster, pans and cooking utensils plus crockery and place settings for four.
You’ll find a helpful welcome pack of cupboard basics, (tea, coffee, milk, sugar, oil, condiments, washing-up liquid and loo rolls) plus kindling and firewood for the stove.
To help guests enjoy a fulfilling and relaxing time while indoors, the cabin provides a Sony mini HiFi CD player and digital radio, a small selection of books and games but no TV. Wi-Fi is available at no extra charge for guests to access if they wish to connect personal devices, (though you may opt for digital detox!)
There are two compact bedrooms comprising a raised, cabin style double bunk with storage and sea views in the first, then two single bunks with small wardrobe and storage in the second.
The shower room contains a spacious shower unit with electric shower, radiator, sink and vanity unit and loo.
All bedding, extra blankets plus two towels for each guest are provided but please bring your own towels for outdoor use. There is a washing machine for guests’ use, a hairdryer and a high chair can be provided for small children.
There is an external shower area at the rear of the cabin to rinse sandy children, salty wetsuits and muddy dogs.
‘We recently visited Curlew Cabin as a family and were surprised at how spacious and modern it was. Very cosy too with fantastic views across the Forth and lovely walks with our dog Daisy. Looking forward to coming back for another relaxing and fun weekend’. David & Clare, Edinburgh
‘We all loved our stay at the cabin. Cosy and well designed, with thoughtful and quirky touches everywhere - milk, tea and coffee supplied, bird watching and wild flower books to hand, guide books and local listings magazines on the shelves, lovely crochet blankets, and my favourite, the fishing float used as a cupboard handle. Lovely.
And the location couldn't be better - literally a stone's throw from the beach, with amazing views and wonderful walks in both directions.’ Sarah & family, London

Curlew Cabin is just 27 miles from Edinburgh, 15 miles from the Lammermuir Hills, 10 miles from North Berwick, 7 miles from Haddington and 1 mile from Dunbar by road. There is a train station at Dunbar with hourly trains to Edinburgh or south to London.
Parking for a single car is provided at the cabin.

Considerations before booking:
No smoking or naked flames in or around the cabin, (sensitive alarms are installed).
The wood burning stove is the principal heat source of the cabin and will need regular attention to maintain good heat output. The stove gets very hot and should be considered a risk to unsupervised young children though a guard is provided.
Portable electric heaters are provided for all rooms except the shower room, which has a heated towel rail.
The low profile character and proportions of the original cabin have been retained which means any guests over 6ft may need to make allowances in bedrooms and the shower room.
